Netflix

Netflix is giving me 30 free days. I may end up paying for a basic account beyond the 30 days. We'll see.

Anyway, what things should I watch?

GLOW, Stranger Things, GBBO

Scifi and fantasy mostly. Some action. Some crime and true crime.

Ok so I might suggest:

Dirk Gently, Tale of Tales, Stranger Things, The Alienist, Dark, Altered Carbon, Ghost Wars.
If animation: The Dragon Prince, Castlevania.

(No clue if all of these are available in your Netflix, I think it's different depending on the country?)

Stranger Things, Dragon Prince, and the rec below of Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries.
The Magicians. Deep Space Nine. Legends of Tomorrow. Blue Planet. The Good Place.

There are a number of great movies there as well.

Tidelands!

For sci-fi, Moon and Mute. The first is a sci-fi/suspense that's beautifully filmed with a haunting soundtrack. The second is a thoughtful cyberpunk. Both feel like old school sci-fi short fiction made into films and both were written and directed by Duncan Jones, David Bowie's son.

I'm not positive they're still on there because I don't have Netflix (watched these at my parents' house when I was housesitting for a weekend) but:

- A Bag of Hammers - I actually learned about this one from a secret here years ago. Anyway, it's about two ambiguously gay criminals who take care of an orphan. I will warn you that the ending is sort of vague/confusing and frustrating but overall I thought it was really good.

- Oldboy - I don't want to give too much away because this one is super twisty and crazy. The basic premise is a dude is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 something years by unknown people and when he finally gets free he decides to find out who did it and get revenge. It's awesome but pretty f'ed up and disturbing, so if that's not your thing, skip it. (Also, there's the original Korean version and an American remake, the original is much better in my opinion.)

For true crime, they've got the whole The Staircase documentary with new episodes. Making a Murderer, too. The Keepers is good, but heartbreaking and unresolved. Forensic Files is a no brainer.

I have no idea.

Were you the one with the stiff neck? Is it better?

Yes. And no, not really. Thanks, though.

Are you into cooking competition shows? If so, watch Nailed It! It is so, so funny, and incredibly wholesome.

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (sex positive series with awesome flapper heroine)
Midsomer Murders (cozy British mysteries)
Father Brown Mysteries (ditto)

Sci-fi:
Travelers
Altered Carbon - not perfect and it's graphic violence but flashy and fun cyberpunk

And yeah, Great British Baking Show (which is what they call Great British bake off) for alllll the sweet feelgood moments.

Have you watched Person of Interest before? If not, I binge watched it on Netflix a few months ago and I highly recommend it.
