Re: Happy New Year, FS!

Had dinner with my parents, ate 12 grapes as the bell chimed midnight (it's a tradition here in Spain) and now I'm watching a clip show with bits of the many, many musical acts which have appeared in our national broadcasting television since the 1950's. Three uninterrupted hours of nostalgia accompanied by puns, fun facts and catty comments delivered in the form of subtitles.

Do you make a wish every time you eat a grape and drink some wine as well? Just curious ‘cause it’s a tradition from my family’s country too.

I've heard that some people make wishes or declare their intentions for the new year like losing weight or learning a new language, but most just eat the grapes for good luck. After the last grape we usually toast the new year with champagne or cider.
