(Anonymous) 2019-01-01 06:44 am (UTC)(link)In my experience, although I do not read MCU fic much so this is based on many other fandoms, writers do not give characters new nicknames simply for the innocent reason that "some people have several nicknames". They do so because they are committed to a particular characterization and/or relationship that they feel is better reflected by some alternative, fanon nickname. Usually it results in entirely OOC fics. People are allowed to write whatever they want, of course, but when I see a story with one of those dreaded nicknames, I hit the back arrow as fast as possible.
