104: D: D: D: lolwhut, indeed. Were they sufficiently creeped out? D:

142: Waaaait. Isn't he a convicted child molester? Don't shoot me if I'm wrong. I seem to recall a news story about that at one point, though.

155: I-it would help if you named the fandom in the secret? Just sayin'.

161: I'm a huge slash fan, and I can't see Harry being into the manlove at all, either. People actually do that?

182: THIS ALLEGED ASOIAF MINISERIES: FACT OR DESPERATE WANTING? Holy shit that would be so badass Also, lol. I could see it, but I imagine Littlefinger as er ... narrower. Not saying Blair's fat, but you know what I mean. Narrow like stereotypical dark wizards and whatnot. >.>

188: M-ME TOO. YES YES YES.

Yah, we do. It takes chapters and chapters if you want book!Harry to even acknowledge another dude (he's not a font of fabulous waiting to explode by a long shot), but it's worth it.

Re: 161

[identity profile] arclights.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
Oho. Maybe this is because I've only read the first, er ... four books or so? All I can remember is him being lulzy and going SUSAN SUSAN SUSAN and stuff. And then she got turned into a weird sorta-vampire thing, and that was about where I left off, if I remember right.

I just don't remember any dudes that would turn Harry's head. I mean, there was the holy knight guy, but super!christians don't tend to go that way, especially when they have a waifu. Were that not a factor though, I suppose I could dig some bromance. xD

I love Susan whole heaping bunches, but she's been persona non grata since book five. And then his further taste in woman? Appalling, and atrocious. (Elaine comes back. Oh, Elaine, why so damn BORING?) There are female characters I love (Murph, Gard who you won't have met yet) but they don't feel right with Harry. (Mostly because Gard and Mr. Hendricks are too, too right.)

His relationship with John Marcone, on the other hand, only ventures further into 'I hate you because you are entirely too much like me' territory as the books wear on.

(Admittedly, I'm not so much shipping Marcone with Harry as I am Harry with Marcone; if you get me. Marcone's my favorite dude in the books; I live for his scenes.)

And I've seen Harry/Michael done well, if experimentally, but I wouldn't live there.

I think it's more "I hate you, because if I don't goddamn if I may not start to like you!" towards Marcone... interesting relationship anyway, whether you read it with the slash-goggles on or not.

Re: 161

[identity profile] shiplizard.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd be just as happy with some good solid friendship fic for those two, but I am hormonal fangirl, and I do enjoy slash, so it's one dynamic I'm happy to go for. (Even though it squicks Jim Butcher. I am not writing it for Jim Butcher.)

But then, the books are really becoming 'the Mafia Show' for me. I'm less excited about all the supernatural soap-opera, and more excited about Marcone and co's attempts to claw their way into political respectability. (And the medical drama of you-know-who and her mom, you-know-which.)

Re: 161

[identity profile] dancing-moon.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It squicks him? Really? Then why does he write Harry admiring Marcones pretty eyes all the time? ;)

Re: 161

[identity profile] dancing-moon.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
He sure admires half-nekkid Thomas a lot in that vampire party scene...

Re: 161

[identity profile] theorclair.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't go there. Just... don't.

Re: 161

[identity profile] dancing-moon.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not like...
- one moment, this may be seen as a SPOILER -

...other people in the Raith clan haven't.

Re: 161

[identity profile] theorclair.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Still doesn't mean I want to read fic about it. *shudders* Wasn't thrilled to see it in the books either, even if it made sense there.

Re: 161

[identity profile] dancing-moon.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
YMMV, of course. Bob/Harry is big in the fandom and I just don't see it at all (no squick or so, more of a bzuh?) But it's not like there's, hmm, no canonical precedent for unusual couplings involving the Raiths.

Re: 161

[identity profile] shiplizard.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
He takes time out after he's had an ocean dropped on him to admire Michael's pecs, too.

Ditto with the huge slash fan but don't seem to let the slash fans have an easy time pairing him in. For awhile I thought I might do him with Tom but... Well there's a lot of reasons why not now.

Re: #161

[identity profile] shiplizard.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a Dresdenslasher myself, but... there's a ship I can't get behind. *squick* (There's also a decent amount of Harry/Carlos, which just doesn't do it for me. It seems odd.)

I've done Book!Bob and Harry just to see if I could, but my two-exhausted-upstarts pairing (wizard/mafioso) is my OTP.

(And Hendricks/Gard. Where the hell is all the Hendricks/Gard?)

Re: #161

[identity profile] theorclair.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't slash in this at all, but none of the other ships I really mind. That one, however, makes me run for the brain bleach.

Re: #161

[identity profile] shiplizard.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a combination of people who haven't read the sixth book, and who like the taboo aspect, I think. Yeah, it's not mine.

Re: #161

[identity profile] theorclair.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't get any incest ships, really. And don't get me started on twin incest ships. While I rarely ship myself, I don't mind 90% of them. The remaining ten percent usually involve something as squicky as that.

Re: #161

[identity profile] shiplizard.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I've read 'cest fic on occasion-- but a prerequisite for me to find it believable at all is that both characters have to be immensely screwed up, emotionally, to consider something like that. Then it's believable, if not hott. In this case? No way.
