What was false about the advertising?

"I think the biggest thing was that it wasn't advertised well for what it ended up being. They built up a shit ton of hype for the "monsters" and people were extremely disappointed that that part of the story was beyond anticlimactic. Watching it now, without the hype would probably improve the experience for quite a few people."

"It is a textbook example of a film being ruined by poor advertising...It was simple drama that was marketed as an intense thriller. While it had its moments of thrilling action, thy were few and far between. It had the pacing of general popcorn drama film. The intensity did not live up to what was advertised and based on people's expectations because of that, it was immediately a let down."

Yes, so much this. My family and I even said right after we watched it that it was a good movie, just not at all what we were anticipating. Same thing with Hardball (with Keanu Reeves) NOT a lighthearted kids comedy.
