They didn't believe that you have a speech impediment? After hearing you talk for presumably a good amount of your life? Jeez, I guess now you know how much they actually listen to you. Sympathy.

DA. Not saying their parents shouldn't have noticed, but when you live with someone with a speech impediment you grow really used to just not hearing it. My sister has a lisp and goes by her middle name because she can't pronounce her first name properly for people outside of the family to understand, but I rarely ever notice her lisp, except when people draw attention to it just because I'm so used to it.

OP here - my mom tends to dismiss anything out of hand and doesn't really care, but close friends also haven't noticed so I'd say this is the case for me. Just people being too used to it to notice.

May I ask though: If your friends believe you, do you faux-ID as nonbinary in front of them as well? Because if so: that's on you.
