the 'becomes a fucking goddess' was an incredibly young woman that had recently discovered a love interest that loved her back (ick on that but that was the writing's fault), had recently found an entire planet of her own people when she'd thought for the longest time she was only one of the two of them left, had started to bond with those people and had an Altean girl she had a friendship with, had begun to become part of a team of people that considered her family and she considered family (until the ugh writing of the last two seasons), had finally achieved her dream of seeing peace in the galaxy and had constantly, constantly fought to live. ALL of which were GOOD rewards for all the sacrifices she'd been forced to make up to that point. Allura had everything to live for and deserved a chance to enjoy the results of all her pain and sacrifice but instead her team of 'stronger together' stood back and watched her sacrifice herself (yet again) for someone else's horrible decisions in the least explained why the sacrifice was even necessary ending. The fact the planet she'd longed for all through the show was restored - after she was dead and couldn't enjoy it was just icing on the shit cake.

tl;dr - the POC woman was already set up to have a good ending surrounded by friends and loved ones in a respected position - if she'd lived.

I mean that's great. It is.

But she didn't need to have that ending just because you wanted it for her. She was content with her choice. Just because someone has a lot they could have as a reward doesn't mean a damn thing. The thing I recall Allura wanting most was to not be the last of her kind, and while she could have had that life, she decided that protecting it all was what was important to her--which yeah, writing. But I have never seen a WoC get the "ascension to goddess" storyline, and tbh I'm fucking happy she got it.
