What in particular was it about this film?

Just curious, I haven't watched anything past DH2. Was it the plot, the Naga thing, Johnny Depp's casting, the way they decided handle Dumbledore's sexuality? There are a lot of things people have been unhappy about.

Nah, I was fine with all that (enthusiastic about some of it, in fact).

It's like... it just finally hit me that JKR is never going to write anything but black-and-white morality and be totally preachy about it, and I couldn't understand why I'd ever hoped for more from her or the universe.

ayrt

Ah, got it. That is disappointing, when you realize that someone's never going to grow beyond where they are in ways that you hoped that they would. I hope you find something else out there that you can enjoy more.

I appreciate that. I've been pretty bummed about it because HP has been my main fandom for years, but I guess I've changed, and it hasn't. I feel kind of lost right now and do hope I can find something new.

You didn't think there were any shades of grey in the film?

Queenie's arc is interesting. Other than that, not really.

I remember that feeling, not for HP but for Redwall. I was reading Outcast of Redwall and when I realized that Veil was destined to go evil and couldn't fight it just because he's a ferret. It soured the whole series for me. I struggled through a couple more of the novels, but I never got back that sense of joy and wonder I used to have while reading and eventually had to give up the series. ;n;

Oh gosh, I remember feeling the same way reading Outcast. I was so disappointed.

I won't spoil anything, but let's just say the stupid soap opera-y shit she did with Credence, Queenie, Jacob, Nagini, Leta, and the contradictions to her own fucking universe she created is probably the worst thing about the latest movie. With how many threads left off from the first FB that she immediately cut in this one, you'd almost think this sequel was written by someone else ala JJ Abrams/Rian Johnson with the new Star Wars. But no, it's all her which is just further baffling.
