DA I always thought of it as a 'If I write enough for this ship/dynamic I like some people might read and like it and then try to create their own content with the same thing'.

I understand where you're coming from--I write fics for a rare ship in a small fandom and I'm always happy whenever I see a new fic that I didn't write on AO3, but I also think people should put their money where their mouth is. Not everyone wants to write fic, sure, but they can still support the writers and fics that they like and hope the trend catches on. Commenting, reccing, leaving kudos. Even posting meta or short observations about 'Hey Fandom Top as a bottom, imagine' might get some reaction from fandom.
