Yeah, no, he's not two extra pounds heavier. Last season of Angel he had a screwed up knee and gained a bunch of weight. And you can see it, because normally you can see his jaw a lot better.
He's chunky.

Near the end of his Angel stint, a decades-old running injury flared up and presented Boreanaz with his greatest fitness challenge yet.

"I had injured my ACL in a high school track meet, and back then the surgery was radical, so I decided against it," he says. "Nowadays, it's just a scope, real easy, so when the injury came back, I finally decided to have it done. But after I came out of surgery, it still took a long time for me to get my walk back. I couldn't run on it for six months, so I just sat around and gained weight. I was very limited in what I could do."

One cadaver ligament later, the actor says he's now at 95% of where he'd like to be, boosted immeasurably by his personal trainer, Andre. But it took a while for him to reach that point. Early this year, after 12 months of intense one-on-one, Boreanaz still felt something was lacking in his program. That's why, as the ink was still drying on his Bones contract, he decided to hire a personal nutritionist. And finally, everything started to come together.

"All along, you think you're eating the right things, you're working out and doing everything right, but then you find out that you're not building muscle--you're just storing fat. [Through my nutritionist] I've been learning a lot about metabolism. In car terms, everyone has their own engine, and you have to take care of it in a very specific way."

And some anorexic people think they're fat. I'm just saying, during his stint on Angel, to me, he was fucking super thin you could carve meat on his cheekbones, so in this case TO ME, he looks healthy, not ~chunky~.

About season five of Angel. He had an old knee injury that flared up, and he had to have surgery and so for six months or so couldn't really exercise or anything. I pasted in a link and quote from DB from a magazine article about it that I found - a couple comments up, maybe?

Plus - you see how they cleverly waited for me to start an argument with them so they could 'shame' with the accusation.

Yeah, David's a bit of an asshat. And Booth was truly a jerk a lot of the time. I think he and the series peaked at the Xmas episode when they were all quarantined.

That was season 1 I think. I stuck around far too long. the show soon forgot that Boothe could be wrong. Everything was written so he was always right, even when he wasn't. Brennan changed and he never did. It was terrible and ruined any enjoyment I had of earlier seasons.

But yes - that, too, he was *never wrong* and especially about 'god'.
