I'm not into dolls, per se but I'm involved in a tangential hobby and... honestly, some people just have specific issues that both attract them to this hobby AND make them more volatile. There's a lot of strong wish fulfillment and control in the creating, styling and dressing of dolls and their accessories. It appeals to people who have chaotic, dysfunctional lives because there's this one area where you have complete control and the ability to create whatever fantasy you want. If that gets interrupted or disturbed, it feels like a personal attack.

I'm not saying everyone in the doll fandom is like this. I know plenty of people who treat it like any healthy hobby. But... it does attract people with some unhealthy issues.
