I just try not to worry about it and assume that they'll solve it magically with true love, or transhumanism, or vampirism, or something.

I solved it once with reincarnation! Only... that was actually a lot sadder than I meant it to be, because one half literally kept dying over and over and the immortal half would find him (not always every lifetime) and he wouldn't know him right away--or sometimes ever. :(
