It's someone with a bob who has pulled most of it back into a ponytail.....
Not really getting the hate.

Same. I personally think it'd look a BIT better if the wings curved along her jaw and didn't fling out, but as someone with curly hair, my hair would do EXACTLY that if it was that length so...

Exactly. It's the hairstyle of a person who works around stuff that she doesn't want her hair swinging down into, for safety and/or gross factors.

As someone who actually works around stuff that I don't want my hair swinging down into, let me tell you: You need to pull back more than a tiny piece at the back of your head for it to do any good. Which means, at that length she either needs to learn to rock pigtails or invest in some hairclips or a hat.

Ehh... to get that look with the ends curled up like that, you'd have to style it. IME, naturally straight Asian hair doesn't do that.

Even naturally curly hair doesn't do that. I keep my hair about that length and it has never, ever done anything like that on its own.

Except if her hair isn't naturally straight, it might do that. Who knows if she's of mixed origins or not? Looks to me like she yanked her hair back for her work-day.
*shrug*
