I really like when villains go good. In theory.

In practice, I really hate it because that's all, the end, happily ever after. I hate when the villain is supposedly good now so everybody's fine with that and I hate that the villain is never shown struggling with old habits or with changing their mindset or realistically failing at being good even if they try, because it's hard to change.

Yes. I like a good redemption story. Good. It has to work. The author has to make me believe it. And the reactions of other characters have to be believable.
