My Neighbor Totoro - I know it’s got the whole b-Plot of the mom having cancer but the end credits show her alive and well coming back to the family so that could help take the edge off.

Most books by Woodhouse, particularly Jeeves and Wooster. They can get a bit cringe in the middle but his short stories are always about silly love affairs and comedy of manners shenanigans and ALWAYS have happy endings.
