Welcome to PC gaming! It's a wide world that has stuff for any tech level! :D

Unless your laptop is from 1998 I'm sure you'll have no problem running steam or finding games to enjoy.

As Kaijin said, you do have to install Steam to use it (though you can browse the store and community pages just on a web browser).

As for whether or not you can run the game....
