You are right. It isn't there much. Then again, we didn't know much about how specifically Vader went to the dark side other than it being Palpatine who got him there until the Prequels. But whatever the case, you can't say it isn't there, because it is.

I didn't say it wasn't there, I said he's neither deep nor complex unless you hunt down stuff that's not in the movies (and even then, ehhh).

And you're right, we didn't get the specifics about Vader until the prequels...but we did get the prequels, filmed and presented by Lucas himself to a very wide audience. Maybe someday 30 years from now we'll get actual answers and character development for Kylo, but we don't have that now.
