This. It's entirely possible to love someone but also be extremely frustrated or upset with them, and in the context of an engagement, that sort of thing could make you wonder whether or not you'd made the right decision. Like you said, that doesn't mean they never loved OP and it doesn't even necessarily mean that they don't still love OP on some level right now. It's impossible to tell what's going on without more information.
