If it's "just you" then why do you feel to post it in response to my secret? It feels rather random and in many ways trying to incite empty, needless, wank; which is exactly what I’m trying to evade.

No, I am not trying to incite anything, I'm just wondering why and that wasn't forbidden the last time I looked.

It's the most popular couple in the Japanese Gurren-Lagann fandom. That's a lot more than "some people". But that’s beyond the point, if it’s actual curiosity rather than demanding me to justify myself I’ll be more than happy to dissipate your doubts.

I don't participate in the fandom much and I didn't like the pairings in the actual show, so I wouldn't know what's popular and what's not. It is curiosity, since to me they weren't the epitome of those things. Sorry if I sound rude, but I'm just curious.

Why are you apologizing? There was absolutely nothing wrong with your question, and it's a reflection of the OP's own preconceptions that they were so offended by it.

On the “everyday interactions” level, their relationship works because it’s dorky. They both have not really social personalities and that makes for very adorable situations. Even if it usually becomes awkward you easily can tell they’re both having an amazing time, with a satisfying quietness in their heart. Consider that Simon is shy and doesn’t really know how to interact with other people while Nia is quirky at times very silly. They interactions are just so clumsy yet very elegant because they’re able to appreciate each other.

Simon is very introverted; it’s just not easy for him to “relate” to other people. Nia is a contemplative person, the kind of person that would actually enjoy being with him while he is just quietly working on something. What makes everything better is that their relationship wasn’t an incidental subplot but rather an important and elemental piece of character development for them both. If not for Simon’s trust and love, being abandoned by Genome would have resulted in Nia becoming a mass of angst and self-pity. From Simon she learned to love herself. It's the same for Simon. He constantly relied on Nia, her trust and love for her was what gave him a purpose to defeat the Anti-Spirals. He required her strong will, her understanding.

Aaaand… I don’t know if you want me to keep going, but there’s an essay coming to shipmanifesto pretty soon. Perhaps that will clear your doubts.

I'm not so sure about that, actually, and it's a difficult thing to prove, but you're right; it's besides the point. You have expressed an opinion in an open forum, and somebody has expressed an opinion about your opinion. There's nothing wrong with that, so don't get you underwear in a bunch.

I'm sorry to sound offended; very honestly I can tell you that I am not. You’re right, discussion is justified and allodole did absolutely no wrong when expressing her opinion... but I’m actually pretty confident, from Pixiv and the amount of sites dedicated to them, that SimonXNia is the most popular, or at least with the one with most active fans, couple in the Japanese Gurren-Lagann fandom. You're right that it's a difficult thing to prove, though.
