The whole thing promises to be quite nasty, since she based the strip on her real family up to a certain point in time-- and her husband of 20 years recently left her after revealing that he was having an affair with one of her assistants. She'd already gone a bit overboard in using the strip to correct any mistakes she felt her children made in their lives, so it's a long shot that she'll be able to write the husband as a fictional character and not as a voodoo doll.
And many people have already mentioned the Comics Curmudgeon (http://joshreads.com)--he features Family Circus regularly. It's a pretty good antidote for the concentrated unfunny of the Keanes. Although you may wake up one day and discover that you know entirely too much about comic strips that you've never cared about in your life, as I just did when I realized that not only do I know the Family Circus kids' names, I also know the names of the dog and the mother.
Warning: you may find yourself developing unnatural interests in the boring comics that no one ever reads, like Mary Worth, which has captured so many unwilling new readers since the fever of Aldomania. Or Gil Thorp. GIL THORP. I recently spent hours going through archives trying to find the storyline where local ne'er-do-well Marty Moon plays a game of golf against a Benjamin Franklin lookalike. It was dull as dishwater, but I could not stop reading.
