Do you like snow?

(Anonymous) 2019-01-17 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
How do you feel about snow, FS? Do you dream of white Christmases, or do you shake your fist at the sky and fantasize about getting a flamethrower?

I'm in the second camp, personally. I drive a lot so snow is mainly an inconvenience to me, if not outright dangerous. Last week I got stuck in a blizzard, this weekend I'll probably be stuck in the next one that's supposed to be coming across the Plains. I am not looking forward to it, lemme tell ya.

As a kid, WOOH! As an adult, boo!

I loooooove snow. Obviously, it gets annoying after the first 4-6 weeks, but I'm even willing to put up with it at that point. I like rain and fog too. Gimme all the precipitation. I love it.

I love snow! I wish we'd have a white Xmas again, but so far we haven't had one in years. I do *not* like icy drizzle/freezing rain/sleet and *then* snow, as that's a recipe for disaster.

I love it. I live in Iowa, so I'm well used to it. On the occasions where we have a lighter than usual winter and don't get snow at Christmastime, it always bums me out.

Winter in general is my favorite season. I'm an indoor sort as it is, so it's a perfect time of year to curl up with blankets and whatnot on snowy/cold days, I love the holiday season, and I like the weather in general.

I live in Central Texas where last year it snowed for like a day and it made news because it was the most snow we had had in I think almost ten years?

So snow is pretty dang magical to me.

Snow is pretty, but I hate the cold, so it isn’t worth it to me.

I don't like cold weather of any sort, that's one reason I live in Calif.

Nope. It very quickly turns problematic in the form of blocking everything and even if my part of the country copes other parts go into meltdown over a couple of inches and I just can't.

If I have nowhere to go and am comfortably sitting at home, I love looking at the snowfall. But otherwise I hate it. A lot of car accidents and scary slips on the road in my car makes me hate it so much. And doing anything outdoors sucks. And I hate having to bundle up in layers of clothing and have static-y hair and everyone shocking each other.

It's not Winter without snow in the Northern Hemisphere.

I like it in small doses. It rarely snows where I live, but it does a short drive east.

Love, love, love snow!
We used to get a lot more snow when I was younger. (we've only had like a handful of snow this season so far- so sad;;) I'll actually go around and shovel some of my neighbours driveways, since shoveling is essentially playing in the snow in my mind~!

NO

snow is pure evil. snow is stupid and cold and makes my driveway impassable and brings out the worst in drivers and means I have to go outside and shovel and/or salt the sidewalk and

hate it.

It doesn’t snow where I live, so I have a very idealized idea of what snow’s like. I imagine it makes the world all pretty and peaceful.

I don't mind snow in small doses. A couple of inches or so during the day or overnight is fine. And frequent snow means it stays white and pretty longer rather than turning grey and nasty. However, I hate huge storms like the one we're going to get soon. Our snowplows are good, but there is only so much that can be done. And nothing other than schools ever closes, so I'm always forced to deal with it and go to and from work. Once I walked the 2.5 miles into work in thigh high (on the sidewalks, I often went into the street, where it was less) snow because it was not as bad as digging out my car And driving would have been. And I hate shoveling.

I love snow. We just got a big snow here and it's made walking to work in the morning so pretty and peaceful.

I hope you have enough supplies in your car if you get caught again :( take some blankets and water and a flare.

I like snow but I"ve never driven in it so...

I love snow! I love it a little less when I have to walk the dog, or when it's gotten all slushy, or when it's an awkward week and I can't go "OH HO, I AM SALARY AND DO NOT NEED TO BE AT WORK ON TIME!" and I do need to be at work on time... but for the most part I love snow. The look, the smell... hnnngh, snow!!!

I live in Cornwall where we hardly ever get snow (I've seen it twice in the 9 years I've been here) so it's novel enough that I enjoy it when it happens. And it's funny seeing our newspapers run headlines like "SNOWMAGEDDON" as soon as a few flakes fall. I do feel for people who live in places where it's so heavy/frequent that it becomes inconvenient or dangerous, though.

Can't stand it, it is my enemy. If it stays off the roads then it's fine and I can appreciate how pretty it is. But it insists on getting the roads wet and slippery and making everything difficult for me every time it falls, so I'm right there with you on the flamethrower thing.

I grew up in Canada. I didn't mind snow then. Now, it's just a nuisance.

It's awesome, so long as I don't have to leave my house. Unfortunately, that condition rarely applies...

Yes. I felt cheated when we had weather cold enough here for snow, but no snow. I miss Boston winters. Okay, by February it is frustrating. But December and January snow? Amazing.

To this day the only thing that reliably makes me happy is looking outside and seeing everything covered in snow.

Last year we had "The beast from the east" snow from over russia way. I have literally not been so happy since then.

It's actually so bad I'm considering, more seriously than I have considered anything else, moving to a country with greater snowfall.
