Here's the thing: for me the idea of having sex with a stranger is extremely off putting, whereas masturbating I like a lot. But the fact that I feel that way tells me that there is clearly a difference between the two. If I injured my hands, I couldn't just have a one night stand instead. So it stands to reason that there are other people out there who feel the same way except it's the one night stand they want; masturbating is a different thing.
