Re: Where do you find meaning in your life?

I find meaning in whatever small joy I experience, whether swift and transitory or deep and enduring.

Examples: Relationships with my loved ones. Making a nice cup of coffee. Watching birds in my garden. Trying to spot stars when there's still some light in the sky. A feeling of accomplishment from cleaning my house or doing something creative. Knowing something I have done has made someone's day easier or more enjoyable, even if it's just exchanging a smile on the street.

I think it's important to remember that what you find meaning in / what brings you joy doesn't have to pass muster with anyone else. Sure, it can be finding a relationship or accruing wealth or being fulfilled in your job, if YOU decide it's that. But if you measure yourself by others' standards you will only ever be unsatisfied. If you take pleasure in something as simple as taking a hot shower, that's enough. It's always enough.

This was profoundly inspirational to read. I've been feeling directionless, recently, and mulling over the irony of this when I've never been in a better place in my life. Seeing these and the examples you give seems like an obvious direction to go in. Thank you so much for writing this ♥
