My least favorite are the "I ship it" and "I'd hit it" secrets. This is fandom. We ALLLLLLLLL feel that way about something.

If you don't put "secret because" it gets relegated to "!secret". And nobody wants *that*.

If one insists on using such blatent termonology, there are a million different ways to phrase it - grammatically corrrect ways, I may add. Even just putting "I have to keep this a secret because" or "this is a secret because" would make me happy.

I've never put "secret because" on any of the secrets I've put up, and they were never deemed "not secrets."

What you said. Make it part of the secret, not just an add-on. "All my friends will think I'm crazy but I'd hit it" sounds much better than "I'd hit it!

Yes, exactly! Those two little words have become so annoying to me! It's just laziness, in my opinion! A pretty phrasing should be just as important as a pretty picture on these things. :/

I hate "secret because". If you have to explain it to me, you didn't do it right.

The reader should be able to tell why your secret is secret without your adding footnotes. Work it into the secret itself, or leave it out. Sheesh.

Exactly. It's like a writer trying to get us to feel sorry for a character by just coming out with "this is bad because s/he is an orphan." Doesn't really envoke the same sympathy it could, yanno?
