Except you should actually care about the issues that the candidate stands for, and not how good their speech is, and vote for the candidate you like who actually might make it, and not throw it away on someone who isn't running. If you actually really like Hillary, a lot of that is based on her platform, and Obama's is practically identical to hers. I wouldn't say wasting your vote because you don't understand how important the process is is "lovely". I'd say it's moronic.

It's not particularly moronic. There are a lot of reasons to prefer one over the other aside from the speech. (For instance, Hilary has a better stance on LGBT issues, but Obama has a better grasp of issues involving poverty) Also, I hate this "throwing your vote away" rhetoric. I live in a coastal state that's going to go to Obama anyway. If I felt like registering my disapproval by voting for a different person, that's not going to make Obama lose the election.

I wasn't planning on voting for Hilary, but this discussion is ridiculous.

I'm not sure about any guarantee of a state going for Obama. There hasn't bee a black major candidate in the election before, and it's hard to say.

If you honestly don't give a shit which major candidate wins, then okay, vote for whoever you want. But if it matters to you who wins, then yeah, it IS throwing your vote away. Yes. Yes, it is. It's even worse when it's not just a vote for a third-party candidate, someone who'll gather enough of a total to show displeasure with the main candidates, but actually writing in someone who isn't running, solely based on "how presidential they seemed" in a speech, when there's a main candidate who is almost identical in platform, and who that person wants you to support. If you actually care about who becomes president, that is moronic and an embarassment. I also think it's ridiculous, ~but that's just my opinion~

I would say Hillz and Obama are very, very similarily politically, so much so that the war vote had to be focused on so much during the primaries. They have MUCH more in common than they do with McCain, which is kind of important. The person who sent in the secret doesn't really seem like they're basing their write-in vote on the oh-so subtle differences between the two. Just my guess.

If you do decide to write her in on your ballot, it would probably help you to know that there are two Ls in her name...
