Rurouni Kenshin fans unite!
But I kinda hate the art in the OAVs. It straddles the border between anime-style and realistic drawings in a way that hurts my brain.

I reeeeally dislike the Seisouhen artwork. The first OAV's artwork flowed better; but really? I just would rather stick with the manga. The TV anime is too inconsistent and that makes me sad. D:

I really dislike Seisouhen and the other OAV -- I think it's "Samurai X" or something? -- altogether. And yeah, the tv anime totally sucks. But the manga is my first love and still very dear to my heart, if only for Watsuki's fairly awesome art. I really don't like that he wasted a lot of Kaoru's potential to be a good, strong, female character. Ah, well. Something for the fanfiction writers to do, yeah?

Seisouhen is a crime against nature, for srs. I like the first OAV though; it stands alone as an excellent samurai drama even taking out the Kenshin fangirlism. xD

Kaoru... well, I like Kaoru's character. She's strong but is outclassed by everyone else around her, so at least to me it's no wonder that she's relegated to the role she inhabits. She kicked some serious ass at the Aoiya, for instance.

Yeah, the first OAV wasn't really that bad at all. Until they did the stuff with the real water and fire alongside the animated rocks. That was kinda bad.

Have you read Vathara's AU fix to Seisouhen? It's a crossover with Gargoyles, but you don't really need to know anything about that show to read it and love it.

That's true; I'd forgotten about Kaoru's part at the Aoi-ya. But I'd've been a lot happier if Watsuki had let her kick as much ass during the Jinchuu arc, y'know?

Huh, I'll have to check out that fic. I don't pay attention to the RK fandom at all, I'm quite happy off in my own little corner with my own little canon. ;D As a result I miss out on a lot of good stuff, apparently.

Well, the ANIMATION of the OAV was... interesting. Some experiments don't pay off very well. xD But overall Tsuiokuhen > Seisouhen like a billion times over.

I need to reread the Jinchuu arc, it's been a few years since I last read it. -_-; But I like manga!Kaoru much better than anime!Kaoru. I just wanted to smack the crap out of anime!Kaoru a few times...

There's a lot of really good RuroKen fic. If you want links, I can supply in bulk. ^_^;;

I want to smack the crap out of whoever made the anime so friggin bad!! I'm a purist at heart, and whenever some know-nothing loser thinks that they can make something better by changing something, I get wicked pissed.
For your own health, DO NOT get me started on The Two Towers movie, specifically the Battle of Helm's Deep. You just don't.

With all the older anime getting newer stuff (Slayers, Hellsing, et cetera) I keep hoping we'll get another series. Maybe the Jinchuu arc done right.

That would be awesome. I remember watching Seisouhen and being like, "WTF?! That's not how it was!" And in the comments below the video (I watched it on YouTube), there was a link to a petition to get Shonen Jump to do the Jinchuu arc right.

There have been petitions floating around forever. I had such hope when I heard of the Busou Renkin anime; and that followed the manga faithfully! Yggggh, I want consistent animation quality and shiny, I mean, why is that too mcuh to assssssk?

What is Busou Renkin about?

What does you icon say? Where is it from? It's kinda awesome.

Busou Renkin is Watsuki's, erm, third work, I believe. (It came after Gun Blaze West but before the current one.) It's pretty average shounen-fighting, but I have a hardon for alchemy so anything even slightly related makes me foam. xD; It's really very cute overall, and short at only ten volumes. The series ran 26 episodes and followed the manga almost panel-by-panel.

My icon literally says "Hagane no Samurai;" it's a Fullmetal Alchemist AU I play in from time to time set during the bakumatsu.

What was the manga of his that was about the boy with the meteorite in his head?
I like short stories. RuroKen's manga isn't that long (compared to, say Bleach or InuYasha), but I really enjoyed the fact that Death Note had only 12 volumes. I'm working my way through InuYasha these days, and I think I'm gonna go bankrupt before I can buy the full set! Poor college student is poor.

I was not a fan of the OVAs or their art. WTF, Kenshin goes through all those battles and stuff and then he dies of a disease?

IIRC, Watsuki didn't sign off on the final OAV, so... yeah. IT DOES NOT EXIST IN MY CANON.

The first OAV wasn't that bad. I didn't like the art, but that's the only real argument I have with it.
Seisouhen/Reflections/Samurai X/whatever the hell the second one is called, on the other hand, made me want to hurt something. Fatally.

AFDDXDF! I feel kinda lonely now cuz I fucking ADORED the OVAs XD
