He is a precious woobie who canonically gets hurt a lot and is physically smaller than the others. Fandom loves that.

This was going to be my answer, too. Those aren't my reasons for liking the guy, personally, but it's certainly true for many other fans I've known and talked with.

He's the prettiest boy in the cast and also smart and sensitive and nerdy and woobielicious

I like the character, to be clear, but it completely makes sense

He's not my personal favorite, but...smart, geeky, socially awkward, vulnerable and pretty. I'd be shocked if he wasn't a fan favorite.

I've never actually watched criminal minds (beyond passively absorbing a chunk here and there back when I had cable), but good god he's beautiful. It's extremely rare that I find a character so beautiful that I'm halfway in love with them based on looks alone, but Spencer Reid is one of those characters.

I sympathize deeply with his fear of developing schizophrenia, though in a slightly different way (since I have it, and I'm worried my children will inherit it).
