I don't mind subtext that doesn't go anywhere, but I do mind jokes at the expense of the ships and the fans. Looking in your direction, SPN and Sherlock.

Seconding this so hard. The unfulfilled (and sometimes unintentional) slashiness of shows rarely bothers me. It's when the creators get their feathers ruffled about people understanding the story wrong, and start trying to tell people how to interpret things, and start acting so put-upon about "all those ridiculous slash shippers" that I get pissed off.

This so much. I hate when creators throw their toys out of the pram because fans have dared to have sexual fantasies about their characters that they don't agree with. (And although not all slash fans are women, I do think the fact that most of them are women make it even more enraging for them. Icky women's sexuality! Ugh!)
