I don't think it will be the same without Robert Stack, but I'm still excited. Really hope they keep the same theme song because that's iconic.

Now that my parents are both dead there’s no way for me to ever know if they knew more than they claimed about what happened to their friend who disappeared on the way back from visiting them and ended up an episode of this.

My mom always said they had no idea what happened, but my dad was a nutcase and sometimes I wonder if some of her self-hatred was because maybe she covered for him. But then, she also said she thought someone blamed their disappeared friend for the murder of his (the friend’s, not my dad’s) longtime girlfriend a few years before and did him in for that. I dunno, it’s just weird going through old family photos and suddenly “oh yeah that’s toddler me with Unsolved Mysteries disappeared dude.”

That's fascinating. I mean statistically yeah, if your parents were the last to see the missing person, they'd definitely be high on the list of suspects. But it sounds like it'll stay unsolved, under the circumstances.

There is a huge cold case from near my home town that was recently solved (except they still don't know the victims' identities) and it would be interesting to see an update on that. But...is it bad that part of the reason I like the show is the 80s cheesiness and nostalgia? Also if you're interested I think the original series is all on Prime still.
