I do sometimes wonder if those types have ever met real gay men in their lives, haha. Switching is common enough and all, but lots of guys are exclusively tops or bottoms! And that's okay too!

I actually really like | as a switching symbol, though, that's a great idea. Especially in the case of a long fic that might have more than one sex scene, with them switching throughout. :o It's just sort of a shame to lose a shorthand like a namemush.

Not that I'm disagreeing with your comment, but there is a bit of a difference between "have met real gay men" and "have asked them about their sexual preferences". I can't say that's a subject that comes up all that often with my friends and acquaintances, be they gay or straight.

That's actually a fair point, my apologies. I tend to forget that sex isn't an open topic with everyone. It's one of my favorite things to talk about, so whenever I get the chance to ask questions, I'm off like a shot, haha.
