She wrote an essay about how Buffy is emasculating to the men in her life and how Buffy the show was better when Buffy the character was weaker so her men could be real men.

I think "terrible person" is a bit extreme. But "person who doesn't understand the point of Buffy"...yes.

Less just not understanding Buffy, more "believes in gender roles and blames women for the faults of men." I see a whole lot of internalized misogyny that she's trying to force on others.
