I don't think it's hurting them, but if someone has specifically asked you not to do it, I think you should respect that.

It won't stop them, lol. Their fun will always come before someone else's comfort, and they'll go through a million hoops to justify why it's okay.

Okay but in all fairness, can you say to someone, "Please stop having these thoughts."?

Nowhere does OP say they write fic or do anything that could conceivably get back to the pair (which would be disrespectful imo, I have no problem with people writing fic/fanart etc, but keep that shit on lockdown, there's no need for people outside of fandom to see it).
