If I can't figure the fandom from the pic, I doubt I will have anything to comment on.

People might know who the characters are (and thus, the fandom) if they could see their faces.

Not necessarily? I've seen a lot of secrets where I was actually familiar with the fandom but didn't recognize it until people commented, bc the secret-maker obscured the faces or used some really weird pic with it. Like, just because I've watched a show doesn't mean I can recognize some random promo pic from it with everyone's faces blobbed out.

Some secrets are very general, too. Like you might have a comment about secret #1 talking about the sexism of Madoka or Chobits, even if you haven't seen the shows, bc it's also a discussion about the tropes of those shows and those genres.

I've had that happen too - when I find out the fandom I realize I know it. Plus I am just one of those people who will get all antsy if nobody tells me what fandom it is. (Not for every single secret, but for some.)
