From what I can remember, Chi still feels very...subordinately devoted to him at the end though. It's like she doesn't even have the experience to know whether she loves him other than as her owner/protector and the story never interrogates that.

I thought it was a really cute manga at the time and I don't think it's garbage (and hey, they finished something) but I have since thought better of "Aw, the horny average guy doesn't immediately force himself on his sexbot" being romantically subversive.

I thought the whole Freya thing clarified that, though? She had Freya's memories so she would know what that kind of love was because it was love for someone she couldn't have that caused Freya to malfunction in the first place.
