Bryson’s got this thing going where he sees a problem, he thinks of a simple, no-nonsense solution to the problem, and he never bothers to consider why nobody already used his solution. If they haven’t solved the problem, they must just be dumb.

My dad does this ALL.THE.TIME. It's so irritating, and I've tried to point out that there are maaaaaaaaaaybe complications to his "simple solution" and that maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe people who actually know more about the problem might've already considered it and know more than he does about it, but nope. Simple solution! That only he's smart enough to figure out! All those dummies who can't see simple solution!
