I forgot to put my snowpants on this morning for my walk to work. My legs were dead numb by the time I got there. -1/10 did not enjoy; would not do again.

Good god, I have regrets not wearing snow pants just to take the dog out for a wee. A walk to work sounds much longer than that and a nightmare!

Haha, yeah with them on and my nice snuggly parka it's fine (though I make little shoof shoof noises when I walk, like a toddler), but this morning, 30 minutes at -20 was not how I would have liked to start my day, lol.

Meeee. I know it's way colder in other parts of the world right now but us Brits love to complain. I just got a new coat in the mail that I now realise is a hoodie masquerading as a coat, it has no lining/padding and is PAPER-THIN but I'm determined to freeze to death in it because it looks so cute. :(

Yep, definitely getting hit with that here, too. They're actually planning to close down my workplace on Wednesday because the temperature will be around, like, 20 below and the wind chills will be around 60 below. Ain't nobody wanting to go out in that.

I am so glad I'm not that far north. We're gonna be topping out at -30 with wind chill and it feels like Death is looming.

Yeah, as bad as it is here in Iowa, I'm feeling pity for the people up in the Dakotas and Minnesota. I can't even begin to imagine what it'll feel like up there these next few days.

It's not temperatures, but I was looking at the National Weather Service site earlier and noticed that down in Louisiana/Mississippi/Alabama they've got winter storm warnings up, and they were talking about the heavy snow they were going to get...which amounted to about two or three inches. Obviously I know for that part of the country, that is a big deal, and I hope they can handle it all right. But considering the dumping of snow we just got here in Iowa on Sunday, it still amused me a bit anyway :D.

We're supposed to get the POLAR VORTEX here too! Today was not bad temperature-wise, but it snowed a lot land night and into today and schools were closed. I had an Adult Snow Day (i.e. work from home) but will need to brave the cold for the rest of the week because if I can drive on the freeway then I have no excuse. It's my first winter in my new place and I'm only now realizing that I should have put plastic on the windows (now that places are sold out of those kits) but I did rig up "thermal curtains" (two light-blocking curtains and two furniture slip-covers) over the windows in the two colder rooms and stockpiled a few frozen pizzas so I have reason to turn the oven on!

This has been the weather in San Antonio the past couple months. 40s. Which, isn't that cold except that this is San Antonio and it never gets that cold usually. Stupid climate change.

told people on my plurk what the temp would be (not even windchills) the next few days, most of Californians and Australians don't believe it's real.

also got frostbite shoveling the fresh 7 inches of snow today.

I feel ya. I posted about an Australian heat wave once and people told me I was wrong because it couldn't be that hot, or schools would be shut and sporting events would be cancelled. Nope. We just get on with things and try not to die.

I'm so glad to be in Arizona right now. Of course, it's because I chipped a tooth and needed a dental appointment to fix it stat, but I'd still rather have a chipped tooth in Arizona than in Minnesota!
