I'm confused about point 2.

Antis are against incest, and anything that’s “like family” is incest as far as they’re concerned. It’s the same phenomenon whereby an older adult dating a younger adult gets called “pedophilia.”

I thought antis just meant against the ship

(Anonymous) 2019-01-30 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. Once upon a time it meant that, but "anti" became an entire culture in fandom revolving around bullying and doxxing anyone who ships anything "problematic."

(Anonymous) 2019-01-30 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Normal adults say "whatever" and move on to the next page. Anti's start entire blogs dedicated to riling up hate brigades against people who ship it.

Just unbelievably spiteful and dickish

(Anonymous) 2019-01-30 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
klance/sheith/etc was never meant to be canon/seen as romantic in the first place and there's no indication whatsoever that it was "executive meddling" instead of writers just egging the fandom on a little too much when they had no intention of doing anything with it. so your comparison is faulty to begin with.

i don't honestly have a horse in this race, but i'm just super confused. why would them confirming that catra and adora are platonic/"sisters" make you feel better about a ship that you... ship a lot? like, do you honestly think that stops antis, ever

(Anonymous) 2019-01-30 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know where you got that I think klance or sheith was supposed to be canon lmao but it's true that the she ra writers targeted Voltron for not being as gay as the fandom wanted. Which was a dick move of them no matter whether any Voltron ship was supposed to be canon.

However I do think some executive meddling was in place to make sheith seem more familial than it would have ("You're my brother" before "I love you" was incredibly clunky dialogue even if you don't ship it at all.) That does not mean I think it was ever meant to be canon.

Antis hate "incest" and will abandon ship if the show compares them to sisters. That's why.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-30 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
THAT'S what got Voltron nutjobs to freak about that ship?? "you're my brother" didn't kill Star Wars slash fans so why Voltron so WEAK

(Anonymous) 2019-01-30 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
People were wanking about sheith long before the brother line. It's all just shipwars disguised as a moral crusade.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-30 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Klancers are just that terrible.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-30 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
da.

having non-related male characters declare each other brothers before saying they love one another is relatively common tbh, nothing about that seemed clunky or off to me. shippers just got baited hard by the showrunners who let them think there was a deeper meaning to that.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-30 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, but I completely disagree with this. An "I love you" would have been ridiculous there, that would have felt clunky and out of place. "You're my brother" felt incredibly sweet and touching, especially between those two characters. People just fell for the goading by the writing cast on twitter, and expected something much more intimate that simply wasn't there.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-30 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I want it so I can see the moment Catra’s heart shatters.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-30 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Why would you want that

(Anonymous) 2019-01-30 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
I don't even go there, but I cackled at this secret. All the power to you, OP. I like how you think.

DA
Me too.
My personal need for popcorn because of part 3 is huuuuuge.

I'd love the schadenfreude of seeing former Klance shippers jump to Catradora only to have that thrown at them. Would be absolutely hilarious to see them trip over themselves to say it's not same as when Keith said Shiro's like a brother to him.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-30 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
And I look forward to there being no roadblocks on all the gay going on in She-Ra so maybe the Sheith shippers will get it through their head that the pairing they're pinning for was blocked by the showrunners, not Dreamworks. Then maybe this whole stupid, hypocritical 'release the 'real season eight' shit will die down. Seeing Dos Santos and Montgomery held up as 'champions of sheith' (because its not about gay rep considering Shiro ended up with another guy) is like watching scam victims say their scammers were forced to steal their money because the evil credit card companies wanted the scammers to pay their own bills. Suck it up, sheithers. You got exactly the season Dos Santos wanted to give you. He was never on your side and his interviews and twitter apology should have tipped you off a lot earlier about that. Dreamworks isn't perfect but in this case its only 'sin' was letting a pair of amateur hacks run the story so long without supervision. And She-ra should just make that even more obvious than it already was.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-30 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
The funny thing is that you sound suspiciously equally obsessed with this whole thing as the delusional Sheith-shippers, just from a different POV. Take a chill pill, honey.
