Beards, yo. Rumors had been flying for weeks about Hiddleston's sexuality, and Swift has (allegedly) been beard for more than one dude. If you look at their photos, they do look really manufactured, so... idk, I can see where people are coming from. I don't think it was real either.

I never heard those rumors and I'm not a Taylor fan in the least but even I could see the chemistry was shit. He went overboard in the "methinks the lady doth protest too much" way and now that I know there were rumors it kind of makes sense.

I don't think that's the case? I think it was likely to be a publicity stunt, but that doesn't mean that I'm 100% certain. IIRC, Hiddleston had something that he was trying to raise his profile for to get award nominations or something, and... there seems to be a common belief that Taylor has had arranged relationships on many different occasions, and I don't know how true it is but it does seem like important background. And they had such completely awful, staged-seeming chemistry.

I don’t really follow Taylor Swift, who else has she allegedly fake dated? I know I heard theories that she was Harry Styles’ beard but assumed that was the 1D fandom being weird conspiracy theorists again

My fandom friend loves 1D so I've seen a GIF related to that get reblogged a few times. When the sassy one was asked if harry and taylor were together and he said they were good friends and then said "if that".
