This. I don’t believe that it’s possible to be healthy no matter what size you are, but I think doctors attributing fat people’s health problems to their fatness causes way more issues than the HAES movement. I’m obese, and I can just ignore the occasional HAES activist telling me that my obesity is NBD.

But my (also fat) doctor starting and ending every checkup and conversation with “lose weight,” and refusing to consider other causes/treatments, means that I’ve avoided going to the doctor even when I really needed to. I need tests and medicine where appropriate, if I want weight-shaming I can walk down the street in a crop top.
