once read an avengers fic where cap was thinking about mister rogers (the tv host, i mean) and how he wore long sleeved sweaters all the time because his arms were covered in tattoos

which is a dumb-assed urban legend and it's been on snopes for years and years

so it just made cap sound like an idiot

i'm guessing the context of the story was not "Captain America doesn't know about snopes".

this was ages ago, so i might well be misremembering, but i think the implication was they were personally acquainted

I’m trying to imagine mr Rogers fighting and the best I can do is imagining him embracing a bunch of soldiers to comfort them while nurturing them thru their fears and machismo so he can befriend the real men inside and help them realize their potential while cap lifts their guns
