Now that I think of it, all the rest of the Maurauders had arrested development in one form or another. James died at 21, Sirius was in jail for 13 years, Peter was in the form of a rat for the same time period (I don't know which would be harder on a psyche). Remus and Snape lived fairly normal lives.

Remus lived as normal a life as you can when you're a werewolf and also your best friend betrayed your other best friend to Voldemort and then murdered your third best friend (or at least, that's what Remus thought had happened)
