I agree with this. Classic Lara's hypersexualised character design was so at odds with the amount of agency and proaction her story encompassed, especially for the time period. I loved that the original game also had a female villain. There were really no men of consequence in that entire plot apart from maybe Lara's butler and a few slightly higher level mooks.

The two involved (antagonist) men in the original game were a fairly easy kill in the end as well iirc. Whereas Natla took a little more with being the final boss - though the massive mutant before her was the WORST.

I think that's why the first film disappointed me a little at the time because I was expecting a similar story line with a woman as the main antagonist. But I had no problem at all with Angelina Jolie. She was great.
