I'm pretty sure that estimate is way too high.

If there's 30 active serial killers in the US, that would equate to about 600 active serial killers worldwide, and it's not unreasonable to think that some countries might have a higher rate than the US (for law-enforcement reasons possibly). It's not totally crazy.

Sorry, but to me there's quite a big margin between 600 and 1000+. I'm not saying it's impossible, just highly improbable. I'm not even sure that numbers of serial killers worldwide is very relevant when we're discussing the likelihood of ONE guy murdering hundreds of people and burying them on the property over the years and yet there's no evidence for it such as bodies.

Right order of magnitude, at least

There's a scientist who thinks it's 2000 in the US alone. https://www.newsweek.com/serial-killers-united-states-how-many-718232

Serial murder, according to the FBI's official definition, is the "unlawful killing of two or more victims by the same offender(s), in separate events.

In that case, I can see it. That would include anything related to organized crime, too, not just the John Wayne Gacys of the world.

NAYRT but yeah, 2+ is a low threshold. I honestly assumed serial would be higher than that.
