"Women can be visual too!"

I'm het and I find it hilarious people still don't realise this.

Though I'm not surprised because for the "straight female gaze" most films seem to concentrate on what men think women find hot about men, like having lots of completely jacked abs shots. Whereas really they'd be doing close ups of stuff like forearms and that part where the neck joins the collar/shoulders if the Internet is anything to go by!

And yeah the fact it never occurs that lesbians or bi women might like some of the sultry shots of women as much as men do is just...have people even been paying attention?

What I find funny is that men seem to think women are all one hive-mind who all like the exact same things. On men, it is backs and butts for me. But no, what we get is lots and lots of ab images. Abs are okay, but they aren't really what I want.

Exactly. I can appreciate the sculptured look on a chest, though I prefer it to not be too much along the lines of an extreme gym bunny so go more for the slight look as opposed to beefcake. But my thing is definitely forearms. And eyes. I match those Internet fangirl stereotypes to an embarrassing degree.

One of my favorite shows is Legend of the Seeker because, in spite of its ridiculousness, it was fairly equal-opportunity with the visuals. Sure, we got Kahlan's cleavage and Cara in her leathers. But we also got Richard's tight pants. We got a nice back shot of Richard in the premier. And there was plenty of eye candy with Darken Rahl as well (I was into him from the moment he, uh, stroked that knife in the premier, there is no way that wasn't intentionally porny).

I love it when shows do that. I think the problem with male semi/full nudity most of the time is it's usually done from an obvious position of a power fantasy moment, which seems to appeal more to straight men in the grand scheme of things. Whereas something that has a man showing some skin in a moment of whatever (just incidental) or even a moment of vulnerability appeals more to women. Idk, I'm just theorising here.

Darken Rahl was more my aesthetic than Richard - something about being all covered up and then the focus on his hands and wrists...I love the way the actor had all these elegant flourishes. much more attractive to me than just being shirtless!

Legend of the Seeker really was the greatest show, that Kahlan cleavage was amazing and then they brought in Cara, my god ♥

Don't forget pecs. Putting Chris Evans in tight white T-shirts and then making him run while giving us a full view of those man titties bouncing was really groundbreaking cinematography.

Can see that! Pecs almost always seem to be presented as this static thing that is only there for the "just whipped my shirt off and now am gonna stand here in this one pose" shot and it's a welcome change when there are shots that seem to emphasise movement. I'm not into pecs personally but we women are clearly not a hivemind!

Hell. Yes. This. When guys roll their sleeves up to the elbows and they're showing off those forearms...I love that look.

Well said with the rest of your post as well :).
