Yeah, I'm just trying to say "I approve of this sentiment" in a semi unique or amusing way.

I understand that's what you meant, but I think it still was condescending and weird even if it wasn't meant to be "trolly". There are times where people can say things that are annoying or cruddy, even if they're sincere. I hope you think about this and take peoples' reactions to heart.

You know what? I will give this further thought. I'll run it past some lesbians I know, see what they think.

But my gut instinct is that people are overreacting and looking for something to be offended about.

If, after further examination I find that I still believe this, they can kindly go fuck themselves.

For the record, I'm the original anon. And I usually like you and think a lot of the reactions to you are silly. This comment crossed a line to me, though. And yes, it is different when it is a guy. A lesbian joking with another lesbian is different than a guy making a joke that is exactly like things so many guys say non-jokingly.

Well for the record, I appreciate that you're somewhat in my corner on other occasions That does mean something to me. I hope this incident doesn't sour future interactions.

And It crossed a line for you? that's fine, too. You don't have to be in my camp on every occasion, if you think I'm wrong, that's you're feeling and that's fine by me. No hard feelings from me at all. But I don't feel I crossed a line. I don't think I came close to crossing a line... Well maybe when I said that I have defeated the full blown AIDS just so I could come back here and torment that anon further down. I can see that possibly being a little on the insensitive side. But my enthusiastic and over-blown puppy talk style endorsement of someone having superior taste in women? No, that's not even moving the needle on my guilt gauge.

And the "You're comparing lesbians to dogs" thing somone mentioned upthread... That is so ridiculous to me I don't even really know how to process it. it feels like reaching.

But I will address one thing: If you think "This is fine if you say it and belong to one group. but it is not fine when you say it and belong to another group". I don't believe that. That is you are judging my comment not in the context of the comment or even the context of my own character, but of the stereotype of my gender "Well when other guys do it they mean X". I do not care how other guys mean it. If when other guys tell lesbians they have great taste in women that are saying it in a super serious or somehow insulting manner that has little to no bearing on me.

In the context of my comment I am expressing approval and agreement with her taste in women. She shares my taste in women. I didn't want to simply comment with "THIS" or "+1" or whatever the current meme is. I wanted to do something slightly more unique. If you're reading more into that than what I expressed or what I meant... Well, that's fine. But you're wrong.

Aren't you the guy who gets vocally upset over women hyperbolically stating all men are scum?

You're welcome to decide lesbians are overreacting for being pissed off at an attitude they find insulting and hurtful even if it's not being expressed in a 100% serious manner, but you're being a wee bit hypocritical if you do.

Men are bad Vs I like you're taste in women

Yeah, I'm not sure that's quite the same shit.
