This movie is one of my all time favorite movies. I love almost everything about it. If I had loved the original novel, the changes they made to the adaptation probably would've bothered me, but as I only liked the novel, I had no problem with adaptational changes being made.

I respect the hell out of Jane Austen as a writer and I like all of her novels quite a bit. But the 2006 P&P movie is one of those rare cases where a book I like gets turned into a movie I utterly love.

The specific line in question, though, is actually not one of my favorite parts of the movie. I don't dislike it, and I do really like the whole "meeting at dawn on the moor" thing, but Darcy's actual declaration would probably have suited me better if it had been more understated and less sweepingly romantic.

Still, when it comes to whether it's in character or not, I don't really care, as I prefer movie!Darcy over book!Darcy anyway.
