157: I actually prefer her fanfiction. I don't think she's great at creating her own characters; I got sick of Laurence halfway through Throne of Jade.

I just recently had a discussion with someone who doesn't like Laurence and we came to the conclusion that Laurence is secretly the Tenth Doctor.

...wow, I cannot think of a less appropriate comparison. The thing that drives me nuts about Laurence is his bovine lack of curiosity, and if the Doctor has any consistent trait across all his incarnations, it's curiosity. If blood rained from the sky, Laurence wouldn't think to ask what was going on until Temeraire poked him. (He'd feel vaguely uneasy, but he wouldn't do anything about it.) The Doctor, on the other hand, finds everything in the universe absolutely fascinating and is constantly poking his nose into things just for the hell of it.

Just my interpretation, mileage varies, may contain nuts et cetera.
