Welcome to the land of daylight! Though I think you should still ask random people about fandom and see what happens. It's definitely gotten me into some weird conversations.

I'm in McGriffley. And right after I posted that someone walked through and someone swears they were a senior, so shrug. Maybe I just don't know my dormmates well enough.

Asking random people about fandom has been totally awesome for me so far. :D

Oh, McGriffley. Is that in the theme dorm park? My friends all lived there freshman year, so I've spent some quality time in that dorm.

I just never know how to work Wincest subtly into the conversation.

Yeah, it's in Cross-Canyon...we're Tir na nOg (scifi/fantasy) this year. It is the most awesome dorm ever. It took us two hours to get through icebreakers because we asked people to say why they were in the scifi/fantasy dorm, and epic argument resulted.
