+1

They're mildly annoying to see but ultimately I just scroll by and leave them to it yanno? I also don't frequent general tags all that much anyway so I don't see this kind of thing often.

The popularity comes and goes for these kinds of things. I've noticed a distinct cycle, at least on my dash. Right now there doesn't seem to be as many, but in a few months there'll be a shit-ton of them again.

I also noticed that the fandoms with a younger fanbase tends to have a lot more genderqueer head canons than the fandoms that are older or have an older fanbase. So maybe you're not seeing them that often because of one or both of those factors?

It seems that college-age and older tends to see a lot fewer of these things floating around, while the fanbases with that are more adolescent and teens have a lot more, including the annoying tag of "and if you don't agree with me..."

It kind of reminds me of the fights I'd see when I was younger over slash fic with the same "if you don't write it or read it then you are homophobic!" tags. Very true in some cases, but not true when you take all of fandom into account.

*shrug*

A lot of people will grow out of it. And then the next crop of young 'uns will just find something new to express the same thing.
