I trim my own hair every few months, and pin it up if I want to look formal, so either Yes, in that I avoid hair salons, or No in that I am unbothered.

I'm sorry your hair is giving you trouble, OP. It can be really distressing I know.

Thank you, I appreciate that.

I'm honestly considering just having a go at it myself and chopping it all to hell because it might be easier to get them to fix it instead of having to beg/plead/show a million pics to get the actual cut I need for my hair texture.

Just make sure that you get scissors specifically made for hair, or you will wind up with a stupid batch of split ends. Household scissors will not do at all. Also, make absurdly certain that you never ever ever use said scissors for anything else, because it WILL DULL THE BLADES.
